About

Green Mountain Art Conservation (GMAC) is a private paintings conservation studio located in Southern Vermont and providing services to the wider Northeast region. Laura Richter Le founded GMAC in 2025 when she moved to Vermont from New York City. She holds an MS degree in Art Conservation and MA degree in Art History from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts.
Alongside her work in Vermont, Laura works part time as a contract conservator for the Williamstown + Atlanta Art Conservation Center (W+AACC), as well as for Modern Art Conservation in New York City. She has previously held positions at the Museum of Modern Art, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, Art Conservation Solutions, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Saint Louis Art Museum, and the NYU Villa La Pietra in Florence. Before beginning her conservation training, Laura worked for a physics lab identifying artistic materials for local museums and libraries, and her interest in materiality has informed her sensitivity to the variety of artist’s materials she encounters in her work. She also holds a certificate of training for health and safety in the arts and is passionate about helping artists and other conservators limit risk in their practice. Finally, Laura enjoys participating in the broader conservation community and serves as a liaison between the Paintings Specialty Group and Emerging Conservation Professional Network of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC). She is also a member of the New England Conservation Association and the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
Over the course of her career, Laura has conserved works by the following artists, among others: Albert Oehlen, Andy Warhol, Anwar Jalal Shemza, Augusto Giacometti, Benny Andrews, Cecily Brown, David Salle, Diego Rivera, Ed Ruscha, Elaine Lustig Cohen, Elmer E.
